For today Smackdown, most of the matches were the beat the clock challenge matches to select whom the #1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship match, the opponent of World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker at The Royal Rumble 2010...
The first match to set the time for the New year to beat the clock challenge was the match between CM Punk and Matt Hardy. CM Punk beat Matt Hardy in 7mn:20s, the time to set for The Beat The Clock Challenge matches. That means every next Beat The Clock match need to beat their opponents in 7mn:20s to become the new #1 contender for the world heavyweight championship match at the Royal Rumble.
