After the WWE Pay Per View Extreme Rules 2012, the next upcoming WWE Pay Per View event is Over The Limit 2012.

Pre-show match, Zack Ryder vs. Kane: During the pre-show, Zack Ryder is scheduled to wrestle Kane.
John Cena vs. John Laurinaitis:(Singles match. If Laurinaitis loses, he will be fired. The only way to win is by pinfall or submission. No superstar or diva is allowed at ringside. If any superstar or diva interferes, he/she will be fired.) The feud stemming from Raw pits John Cena against the General Manager of Raw and SmackDown John Laurinaitis. The day after Cena lost to The Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII, he was greeted by a returning Brock Lesnar, who attacked Cena. It was revealed that Laurinaitis hired Lesnar to replace Cena as the face of the WWE and take him out at Extreme Rules. While the match was brutal and offense was heavily in Lesnar's favor, Cena was barely able to make it through the match, though with heavy damage, especially to his left arm. The next day on Raw, COO Triple H disputed that Lesnar's contract and demands did not go through him and thus if Lesnar wanted to stay in the WWE, he would have to sign his original contract without the demands. Lesnar then attacked Triple H, thus putting his negotiations on hold. Distraught by this, Rasyadid, with some advice from his Executive Administrator Eve Torres, decided his next course of action when deciding Cena's next opponent. He came out to tell Cena who his opponent will be, to which Lord Tensai appeared. Upon staring down Tensai, Laurinaitis attacked Cena and revealed that Laurinaitis himself will be his opponent for the pay-per-view.
WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan, WWE Championship match: Another feud from Raw involves WWE Champion CM Punk against Daniel Bryan for Punk's WWE Championship. Following the Extreme Rules pay-per-view where Punk defended his title against Chris Jericho and Sheamus defended his title against Bryan, John Laurinaitis decided Punk's next challenger via a series of Beat the Clock matches. In the final match involving Bryan and Jerry Lawler, Bryan defeated Lawler in the fastest time to earn the championship match against Punk.
World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus vs. Chris Jericho vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Randy Orton, Fatal-4-Way match for the World Heavyweight Championship: The main feud from the SmackDown brand would see The World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus defend his title in a Fatal-4-Way match against Alberto Del Rio, Randy Orton, and Chris Jericho. After defeating Daniel Bryan in 18 seconds at WrestleMania XXVIII to win the title, Sheamus faced a returning Del Rio in a non-title match on the April 6 edition of SmackDown, where the latter defeated Sheamus via disqualification to earn a future match for the World title. Sheamus defeated Bryan at Extreme Rules to retain his title and end their rivalry, thereby allowing Del Rio to utilize his title shot opportunity against Sheamus at Over the Limit and for Bryan to focus on his WWE Title match against CM Punk. On the May 7 episode of Raw, Chris Jericho, Sheamus, Randy Orton, and Alberto Del Rio faced each other in a tag team match. Chris Jericho pinned Sheamus via a Codebreaker after Sheamus kicked Orton in the face by accident. They got into an argument to see who should be next in line for the World Heavyweight Championship in Mr. Laurinaitis' office. He then announced a Fatal-4-Way match for the World Heavyweight Championship at Over the Limit, which was originally a one-on-one match between Sheamus and Del Rio for the championship.
